Philip Readman is a product design specialist experienced in user interface design, visual systems & design leadership.
Over the last 15 years, Philip has worked within multi-disciplinary teams to create, design and ship proof-of-concept work, testable prototypes, elegant user interfaces and robust design systems.
Operating equally well in a hands-on or leadership role, he brings a considered, craft-led approach to every stage of the process, from early concept through to final execution. Philip has worked across a wide range of industries including Media & Entertainment, Lifestyle & Culture, Sport, Energy, Telecom, Web3 and AI – designing for both consumer and b2b audiences
He has held Design Lead, Head of Design and Creative Director positions at trusted product design studios including Ostmodern, Idean (now Frog), Signal Noise (part of The Economist Group) and Reaktor (New York and Amsterdam). Environments that pushed his craft forward and shaped the way he works today.
Leadership
Philip has had the pleasure of leading multidisciplinary teams across many complex projects, acting as the point of contact for clients, and stakeholders. He believes the best work happens when the team is working towards a shared goal.
Notably, as Design Director at Reaktor Amsterdam he led the growth of one the company's most successful design teams, making several key hires, building a team of around 13 designers and winning landmark projects. In that time helped mentor the design team and raise the bar for craft and process.
QVC managed 3 designers acorss UX and visual design, setting direction, delivering prototypes, collaborating with IDEO and presenting weekly to the C-Suite.
Ford (D-Ford) overseeing 2 designers and assisting with engineering deliverables, guided the client team, collaborated with Gemic and presented to client and stakeholders.
Adidas close collaboration with the client team, overseeing design work and leading the direction and technical spec of the delivery.
Hi Shine
Hi Shine is a creative design studio founded in Helsinki, Finland. In January 2024, Philip, alongside three co-founders successfully secured investment from Nitor. Now a team of nine, Hi Shine works with clients such as Marimekko, OP, and Supercell Games.
Philip currently operates in an advisor role, helping guide company strategy and key project direction – a collaboration that is creatively rewarding and a genuine exchange of experience.
